Once a month, we gather around these questions for listening deeply and engaging with curiosity.  Our Pilgrim Way Salons are curated evenings of conversation, hospitality, and reflection hosted in a welcoming space, with drinks and light fare to begin.

"What’s a salon?"
It’s not just a haircut—or a fancy term. Historically, salons were intimate gatherings in homes where people explored big ideas through civil, spirited conversation. That’s what we’re reclaiming.

Each evening features a guest speaker or expert voice, followed by guided dialogue and generous Q&A. Whether you’re skeptical, spiritual, curious, or convicted, come pull up a chair. There’s room at the table.

Plough Magazine: What Does It Cost to Actually Belong to Each Other?

The U.S. Surgeon General's 2023 advisory found that lacking social connection carries a risk of early death comparable to smoking fifteen cigarettes a day, and that participation in community groups of every kind, civic, recreational, and religious, has been declining for decades. Most of us already know this in our bones. Is there an alternative way, is another way of life possible?

The Bruderhof has been testing one for over a hundred years. Founded in 1920, its roughly 3,000 members across 24 communities on five continents hold no private property and take no individual paycheck: everything they earn goes into a shared account, and everything they need comes back out of it. Their magazine, Plough Quarterly, is where they put that reasoning, and their doubts, into print. It isn't tied to any denomination, and it's read by Catholics, atheists, and everyone between.

Join us for a conversation with, Timothy Keiderling, who is an editor and contributing writer for Plough, a well as a member of the Bruderhof in upstate New York.

More about Tim: Timothy Keiderling is a member of the Bruderhof Communities, where he serves as the Acquisitions Editor for Plough Books, and as an editor and staff writer for Plough Quarterly. He and his wife Susannah live in upstate New York with their three children. Timothy holds a degree from Princeton Theological Seminary and is currently finishing a PhD from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem.
